Okay so I decided to do this to my 2008. And I am glad I did, thus morning on the way to work I opened it up and wow! Night and day of a difference who would of thought! The speedometer needle just kept going and fast!
I like it! lol
Okay now for the how to part for those of you who want to do this.
I started by only removing one exhast can (right side) but removed to get job done faster and correctly!
(Tools needed)
Drill
Flat head screw driver
Hammer
Vaccum
Drill bit (Metal) 9"
Mask is reccomended so you do not breath it all in.
Gloves
And the lucky charm bit to make the job real fast! (Spade Bit) 9"
Now I reccomend removing the headers to do this much faster then leaving them on bike.
Remove radiator bolts you can let hang to do this or remove it that is up to you.
Remove exhaust cans and mid pipes.
Remove headers
Get your self a nice work space with padding something that can absorb heat well because
your headers will be getting hot to do this job.
Take Spade bit and drill in the center of the Honey comb (Cat)
Drill all the way through make sure you start slow to get it going.
Take small breaks in between because it will get hot and you will see it light up.
Then take Flat head screwdriver and hammer it from the corners
Now this will take awhile so take your time..
The Spade bit is your friend so use it often it will chip the cat up.
Once you break it all lose use the vaccumm to suck it all out.
Now do not get to excited once you get done because you have another! one to get out yes another one.
It sits in lower so those long bits are needed!
So reapet process
Once done make sure you clean the inside completely out get out your hose or pressure washer and clean them up good dry them with towel then let the rest air dry. If you have a shop vac flip the hose and use the air to blow through the each hole.
